The department’s new ambulance which was manufactured by Life-Line Emergency Vehicles in Sumner, Iowa was recently placed into service. The vehicle was built on a Ford F550 4 x 4 chassis and includes our first automatic stretcher loading device which is intended to significantly reduce the potential for firefighter lifting injuries during patient loading events and improve patient care.
In addition, design revisions and upgrades to the interior of the ambulance engineered to improve operational efficiency and enhance employee safety levels have also been included. The $302,000 vehicle was purchased on a five-year lease plan and will be subsidized through our Special Revenue Account using ambulance revenue funds. Specialty Vehicles of Plainville, MA is the local dealer. We would like to thank the Select Board, Finance Committee, and our residents for supporting the purchase of this essential piece of life-saving equipment.
