The Brewster Select Board voted to offer a contract to Peter Lombardi at the Board’s January 28, 2019 meeting. Mr. Lombardi currently serves as Wenham Town Administrator and has a distinguished record of more than twenty years of public service.
Each Select Board member offered specific reasons for voting for Mr. Lombardi. Board Chair Cindy Bingham called Lombardi a “forward thinker.” Dave Whitney reported being impressed with Lombardi’s enthusiasm for Brewster as well as his profession. Whitney also mentioned that Lombardi’s municipal leadership has been recognized with several awards. Ben deRuyter identified Lombardi’s work in two communities making budget documents transparent as one reason for his support for Lombardi.
John Dickson called Lombardi an exceptional candidate with solid financial credentials who is “at the forefront of his profession.” Mary Chaffee supported Lombardi stating that she believed he was the best fit for Brewster’s future. Chaffee added that Lombardi was able to clearly define his values during his interview, and that he believes in citizen engagement.
The vote to select Mr. Lombardi was unanimous. The Select Board will now enter into contract negotiations with Mr. Lombardi, and a full background examination will be conducted.
The Board also praised Dan Hoort, Wellfleet’s Town Administrator who was the other finalist leading into the final deliberations. Board Chair Cindy Bingham commended the Town’s consultant, Community Paradigm Associates, who facilitated the search, the Town’s search committee, and the many citizens who were engaged in the process.
