Hundreds of visitors attended the seventh annual Brewster Conservation Day held July 13 at Drummer Boy Park. The event focuses on conservation and environmental efforts on Cape Cod, and is sponsored by the Brewster Conservation Trust, Brewster’s Natural Resources and Conservation Departments, and the Brewster Historical Society.
This year’s program celebrated oysters, and offered children the opportunity to rake oysters out of sand or crawl through a (fake) septic system. Over 40 nonprofit groups, government agencies, and businesses offered interactive exhibits on topics ranging from water quality, energy efficiency, and rescuing whales to native plantings, recycling, and land conservation.
Ten Brewster town organizations had displays at the event: the Fire, Health, Water, and Natural Resources Departments, the Recycling Commission, the Eddy School, and the Millsite, Coastal, Bikeways, and Alewives Committees.
