Final week to submit pre-applications for potential Brewster Housing Rehabilitation & Childcare Subsidy Program
This spring, Brewster is joining the Towns of Dennis and Wellfleet in submitting an application for a regional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) requesting funds for housing rehabilitation and childcare subsidies. These federal funds would aid low to moderate income residents of Brewster (up to 80% of the Area Median Income).
If awarded, the Housing Rehabilitation funds would provide a 0% interest, deferred, forgivable loan to make critical repairs to eligible residents’ homes. The program is designed to improve the housing conditions of income qualified households. Up to $40,000 in funding per project would be available to eligible residents to pay for critical home repairs including roofing and siding, electrical, heating and plumbing work, structural repairs, lead paint abatement and energy efficiency upgrades such as windows and storm doors.
Childcare funding would offer subsidies to eligible families of up to $6,000 per child, paid directly to a licensed childcare provider, to assist families in seeking or maintaining employment.
A major component of a successful grant application is demonstrating sufficient community interest and need in these programs. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, Jean Stanley, Director of Housing Rehab Programs for TRI, will be holding several information sessions:
- Thursday February 13th at 6:00PM at Brewster Housing Partnership Meeting, Town Hall
We hope to see you there! Pre-applications are also available here and at the Town Hall Housing Office. If funding is secured, everyone who has submitted their information will be notified.
