Guidance for Residents Seeking to Make Public Comments at Town Board and Committee Remote Meetings
Starting February 2021, all Town boards and committees transitioned to the Zoom webinar platform. To access these meetings, please visit the calendar tab on the Town’s homepage. Specific log-in information is provided at the top of each agenda. You will need to enter the unique passcode to access the meeting.
Prior to joining the meeting, please make sure your computer audio is working properly. All attendees are automatically muted at the start of the meeting, and have no video.
Attendees will be allowed to comment on agenda items, once public discussion is invited by the Chair of the committee. To be recognized to make a comment please access the “Raise Hand” feature:
- Call in participants will need to dial *9 to raise their hand (Note: you cannot lower your hand if calling in)
- Web and App users will need to press the raise hand icon (If you no longer wish to not be acknowledged to make a comment, you can press the Lower Hand icon)
Once the Chair opens public comment, attendees with raised hands will be called on to speak in succession. The attendee is responsible for unmuting themselves, whether on their own or in response to a prompt to unmute. The Town cannot unmute anyone, individuals must do it themselves. All attendees are asked to keep their comments and questions limited to 3-5 minutes, which may be further reduced at the discretion of the Chair depending on the volume of comments from attendees on a particular topic. In the event that a technical difficulty occurs (such as no audio) please use the “Chat” feature to type in your question or comment. This will be read by the Chair of the meeting (or their designee) for consideration and discussion by the committee members.
The Town welcomes public comment and feedback. Thank you in advance for your attendance and participation in board and committee meetings.
