Brewster voters nearly unanimously voted to acquire both the Cape Cod Sea Camps Bay parcel and Pond parcel at Special Town Meeting on September 26. The votes authorized the Town to purchase the properties for $26 million. However, a second approval is also required at the ballot in the Special Election on October 5. Voters also approved $200,000 in operations and maintenance funding for the two properties.
A record 1,495 voters participated in this Town Meeting held on the ballfield at Stony Brook Elementary School.
The Town of Brewster had reached a negotiated agreement with the Cape Cod Sea Camps owners recently, and the two parties signed purchase and sale agreements on September 24.
