A Reminder to Brewster Businesses About the Town’s Plastic Bag Ban

Single-use plastic bags may not be offered by Brewster businesses to their customers starting June 1, 2020. At Spring 2019 Town Meeting, Brewster voted to ban these bags. However, businesses may use their current supplies before the ban takes effect.

The Recycling Commission is providing this reminder now to encourage businesses not to over-order plastic bags that can’t be used up by the time the ban becomes effective.

After June 1, 2020, businesses may offer certain thick, reusable plastic bags or recyclable paper bags only. Customers should be encouraged to bring their own reusable bags when shopping.
