Reminder about Commercial Plastic Water Bottle Ban Starting in September 2021

Businesses, residents, and visitors are reminded that at the Fall 2020 Brewster Town Meeting, a ban on the Commercial Sale of Non-Carbonated, Unflavored Drinking Water in Single-use Plastic Bottles was passed and becomes effective on September 1, 2021.  On that date “it shall be unlawful to sell any non-carbonated, unflavored drinking water in single-use plastic bottles of less than one gallon [size] in the Town of Brewster” (link to bylaw here). Need water? Residents and visitors should consider bringing a refillable, reusable bottle of Brewster tap water.

The Brewster Recycling Commission is prepared to help businesses and individuals transition to a greener alternative. Please reach out to the Town Administrator’s office (email: if you have questions about this bylaw.
