What is special about Brewster? What should we protect or improve? How do we as a town, both government and citizens, carry out our new vision? Answering these questions is the goal of “Brewster’s Vision.” The Brewster Vision Advisory Group (BVAG) is developing the process for gathering input from Brewster residents. They are a committee of nine citizens appointed by the Board of Selectmen to provide an opportunity for YOU to create the vision that will inform the future of our wonderful town.
Those who get involved in the vision process will identify goals that the community wants to achieve and action steps that town government and other groups can take toward those goals.
Here is how it works:
There will be a series of workshops in June of 2017 where YOU will have a fun and interesting opportunity to provide your perspectives. This process is very different from the traditional consultant-based plan.
From your contributions, a series of summary papers will be written on key issues YOU identified as important.
In a second series of workshops, citizens will be asked to review the vision and goals and to start to identify actions under each goal.
Then, from YOUR feedback, the BVAG will draft the Vision Plan, which we will present to you at a third community workshop. At this workshop, participants will prioritize the actions. With this final input from the community, the BVAG will present the Vision Plan to the Board of Selectmen for approval.
We need YOUR help and you can have a real impact on the outcome. We are excited about working with you to create a working vision of Brewster’s future. We look forward to seeing you at the first workshop in June. Dates and times for the first workshop are: Wednesday, June 21st from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm, Saturday, June 24th from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm, or Tuesday, June 27th from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm. Please let Lynn St. Cyr in the Brewster Planning Department know which workshop you plan to attend as space is limited.
If you have experience working in groups, You can volunteer to help facilitate the June workshops or to record small group discussions or to help with workshop logistics and outreach. If you or anyone you know would like to help, please contact:
