Following recent state legislation giving municipalities the ability to postpone their upcoming local elections, the Select Board voted on March 30, 2020 to delay Brewster’s local election that was to be held on May 19. The Select Board tentatively plans to hold this local election on June 23, pending consultation with relevant town officials and based on the status of the pandemic and related response measures in place as that date draws nearer. Further information, including expanded ways to vote by mail, will be provided to residents in the near future, well in advance of the election date.
The Select Board also voted to postpone this spring’s Annual Town Meeting from May 4 to a date to be determined. Based on legislation signed into law by Governor Baker on April 3, towns now have the option to hold Town Meeting after June 30 if needed.
