Orders Related to Essential Business Pertaining to Construction

The Baker-Politio administration has published two documents related to the new essential business order pertaining to construction. The first is safety guidelines and the second contains enforcement guidance for municipalities.

The Building Department is responsible for seeing that all building construction in town complies with the Mass. State Building Code and applicable laws, bylaws and regulations. The department additionally enforces zoning, Board of Appeals decisions, and Historic District Committee requirements.

Effective January 1, 2018, Brewster Building Department will require THREE (3) sets of plans for One or Two Family Residential Projects: (1) large set – maximum plan size of 36x24 and (2) 11x17 plan size containing the following;

  • Scaled construction plans including labelled floor plans, fire alarm type and locations if applicable, foundation system, framing, structural components identified, door and window schedule, cross sections, etc.
