Protect Yourself From West Nile Virus & EEEV

The recent rainstorms are a good reminder that this is the time to take a walk around your yard after each rain event and empty standing water out of any containers.
A small jar that holds water for 10 days - 2 weeks will provide a larval habitat for hundreds of mosquitoes. The types of mosquitoes found in these containers are the species that carry West Nile Virus and EEEV infection.

Mosquitoes don't fly far from their breeding sites, so people can control them, and the diseases they carry, in their own yard - just by emptying containers of standing water. (Don't forget the gutters!)
