Brewster Awarded Regional MA Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Housing Rehabilitation and Childcare

With Brewster as the lead community, the Towns of Brewster, Dennis, and Wellfleet have been awarded a FY2021 Regional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of up to $1.3 million dollars. This is the second consecutive year these towns have been awarded funding to provide housing rehabilitation and childcare assistance for low to moderate income residents, earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income.

Childcare funding offers eligible families subsidies of up to $6,000 per child, paid directly to a licensed childcare provider, to assist families in seeking or maintaining employment.

Housing Rehabilitation funds can provide a 0% interest, deferred, forgivable loan to make critical home repairs. The program is designed to improve the housing conditions of income qualified households. Funds up to $40,000 are available to eligible residents to pay for critical home repairs, like: roofing and siding, electrical, heating and plumbing work, structural repairs, lead paint abatement and energy efficiency upgrades such as windows and storm doors.

At this time, applications for the FY2020 housing rehabilitation and childcare funds continue to be available. Funding is awarded to income eligible year-round residents on a first come, first served basis. The Resource, Inc. (TRI) is managing the current Housing Rehabilitation Program.
